Environmental Elements Corporation Awarded Over $3.6M in New Services Contracts

BALTIMORE, MD (1/16/03) -- Environmental Elements Corporation (Amex: EEC) has received four new orders valued at over $3,600,000 from two forest products companies located in the southeastern U.S. and two electric utilities located in the midwestern U.S. The first contract is for the design and supply of material to completely rebuild a recovery boiler precipitator. It is the final phase of upgrades that have been supplied by EEC over the past three years and will enable the precipitator to operate with much lower maintenance costs and meet the new MACT emission requirements. The second order is for the design and supply of a replacement drag scraper system in one chamber of one of the largest precipitators ever supplied on a U.S. recovery boiler. EEC rebuilt the first chamber drag scraper last year. This new design will dramatically increase the reliability of the precipitator.

The third contract is for the design and supply of materials to be used in the rebuilding of a competitor’s precipitator at a coal-fired power plant. The components to be supplied are EEC’s proprietary RIGITRODE® discharge electrodes and MODULOK® collecting surfaces. The fourth contract is for the design and supply of a replacement flue gas conditioning system at a coal-fired power plant. Flue gas conditioning is often used by power plants to enhance the collection efficiency of precipitators when certain types of coals are burned. The system being replaced was supplied in the early 1980’s as part of the original plant construction.

"These contract awards demonstrate once again viability of our Services model that places knowledgeable company resources as close as possible to the customer. By doing this, EEC focuses its unique combination of engineering expertise, proprietary components and maintenance capabilities directly on the customer’s problem, resulting in the right solution at the right price," according to President and CEO John Sams.

Environmental Elements Corporation is a solutions-oriented, global provider of innovative technology for plant services, air pollution control equipment and complementary products.
